После трех лет жизни в Норвегии мои ассоциации с зимними праздниками изменились, ведь весь декабрь здесь связан с Рождеством, а не с Новым годом. Поэтому запахи корицы, кардамона и пиннешета (традиционное рождественское блюдо западной Норвегии) стали моими декабрьскими ассоциациями.
А Новый год, конечно, ассоциируется с запахом настоящей елки, немного сыпучей, которую поставили в бак с водой, а потом прикрыли его тканью и мишурой. Той, которую дедушка привез из тайги, мимо которой пробегали зайцы, волки, лоси. Запах мандаринок, а также запах мороженой еды и белья, занесенных с улицы, где все -50. И, конечно же, запах прогоревшего салюта и бенгальских огоньков…

After three years of living in Norway, my associations with winter holidays have changed, because the whole of December there is associated with Christmas, not New Year. So the smells of cinnamon, cardamom, and pinnekjøtt (a traditional Christmas dish from western Norway) became my December associations.
And the New Year, of course, is associated with the smell of a real Christmas tree, a little loose, which was placed in a tank of water, and then covered with fabric and tinsel. The one that grandfather brought from the taiga, past which hares, wolves, and moose ran. The smell of tangerines, as well as the smell of frozen food and laundry brought in from the outside, where is -50 C. And, of course, the smell of burnt fireworks and sparklers...
